JUPITER, Florida/NEW YORK, N.Y. (April 22, 2016) – IRG Sports + Entertainment™ (IRGSE) announced the appointment of Jack Korpela as president and general manager of the Mickey Thompson International Drag Bike League (IDBL) today. Mr. Korpela will assume the position immediately in time for this weekend’s season opening Pingel Spring Nationals at Maryland International Raceway.

Mr. Korpela has dedicated his entire life to his love of motorcycle racing from the age of four when he attended his first race. The passion for the sport resulted in him working in several facets of racing from announcing IDBL races from the booth at Maryland International Raceway, to television commentary and later introducing motorcycle enthusiasts to CycleDrag.com in 2006. CycleDrag.com is the go to source for all things motorcycle racing related and Mr. Korpela is the owner and contributor to the website.

“The IDBL is a top priority for IRGSE and hiring Mr. Korpela will help us elevate the series to the level we are envisioning,” stated Chris Lencheski, IRGSE vice chairman of the board and CEO. “He has a wealth of knowledge in motorcycle racing and he has dedicated his life to bringing the sport to the forefront in the motorsports community. The racers and industry professionals respect Mr. Korpela and he will be instrumental in the future of the IDBL.”

The IDBL is the nation’s largest motorcycle drag racing series hosting professional and sportsman classes at six events in 2016. The future of the IDBL includes an expanded schedule along with TV and digital coverage of the premiere motorcycle drag racing series.

“The impressive infrastructure that IRGSE is building across TV, digital, commercial sales, and event experience from professionals that have been in NASCAR, NHRA, IHRA, IndyCar and F1 makes this a great opportunity to take the sport I love to the next level,” stated Jack Korpela. “I have the total support to do so and I’m excited to represent the IDBL and not only help elevate the series but bring additional recognition to motorcycle racing around the globe."

The Mickey Thompson IDBL season kicks off this weekend at Maryland International Raceway on April 22 – 24. The Pingel Spring Nationals features the world’s quickest bikes with head-to-head professional and sportsman action down the drag strip.
